Training: BBS Methodology - The BBS Route [page 28/34]
Stop Locations (continued)
  • If the route has never been sampled before, only the start point and general route path will be depicted on the map. The depicted route path often extends further than 24.5 miles since it is difficult to indicate the correct route length without first driving the route. Use your car odometer or Global Positioning System to determine locations of stops and do not be concerned if the actual 24.5-mile route ends before the highlighted portion on the map. Also write stop descriptions for each stop for use in subsequent years; this is best done during the scouting trip. Provide copies of all stop descriptions and GPS coordinates to the BBS office; this can be done via the BBS website.
