Code Code description  (see handbook for full description & use suggestions)
OB Category - Observed: not breeding evidence
E Observed outside of safe dates, not exhibiting breeding behavior.
O Observed within safe dates, not in breeding habitat.
PO Category - possible breeding evidence
X Heard or seen in breeding habitat within safe dates.
PR Category - probable breeding evidence
A Agitated behavior or anxiety calls from adult.
P Pair seen within safe dates.
T Bird holding territory (counter-singing, chasing, etc.).
C Courtship behavior or copulation.
N Visiting probable nest site.
B Adult wrens or woodpeckers carrying nesting material or nest building.
M A species is observed or heard (in suitable habitat during the breeding season) at 7 or more stops along a miniroute.
CO Category - confirmed evidence of breeding
NB Adult carrying nesting material or nest building (except wrens and woodpeckers).
DD Distraction display.
UN Used nest or eggshells found.
FL Recently fledged young.
CF Parent carrying food, feeding young, or removing fecal sac.
RC Raptor performing a courting display or repeatedly carrying food to a specific area.
ON Parents leaving/entering nest site or on nest.
NE Nest with egg(s).
NY Nest with young seen or heard.
