We thank the Massachusetts Audubon Society for giving us the permission to present these data and Steve McRae of the Massachusetts Dept. of Fish and Game for sending us a copy of the atlas dataset as a GIS layer in October, 2004. Data are presented here by agreement between the Massachusetts Audubon Society, NBII, and USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center.

Treatment of the received dataset
We imported the
received dataset
with modifications as follows to better combine with other atlases or to match publication cited above:
We included data on two hybrids (Brewster's Warbler, confirmed, and Lawrence's Warbler, possible) recorded by the atlas that were not mapped in the published atlas.
We also decided to map species not mapped in the published atlas that were reported as PR or PO: Chuck-will's-widow, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Common Raven, Tennessee Warbler, and Cerulean Warbler.
Second atlas: Massachusetts 2007-2011 (published!)
The currently displayed project is a first breeding
bird atlas. For information about the second ("follow-up") atlas, see
Massachusetts 2007-2011 (published!).
