Troubleshooting

If you experienced problems while trying to play a sound file, please review this webpage to see if you can resolve the problem.

If you heard no sound and did not see an embedded player:

  1. Check your browser's settings to see if you have a player selected to play mp3 files.
If you heard no sound, but the embedded player was visible:
  1. Check to see that your computer has speakers and that they are turned on.

  2. Check that the volume is turned up and not set to mute.

  3. At Frog Call Look-Up, you need to click on the play button for the sound file to begin playing (and there will be some delay as the file travels to you).

  4. At the Public Quiz, NAAMP Quiz, and Park/Refuge Quiz webpages the sounds will automatically start to play.  Though there is a small delay before the sound starts to reach your computer. Clicking on play may actually result in pausing the sound file’s loading.

If you heard poor quality sound:
  1. Poor sound can result from low quality speakers; this is likely with laptop computers. Try plugging in external speakers to the laptop or switching to a desktop computer that has external speakers. The quiz is designed to work for users with 56k modems or faster connections. If you are using a slower connection, the files may not function properly.

The quiz is designed to work for the following: _____________________________________________
