Troubleshooting
If you experienced problems while trying to play a sound file, please review this webpage to see if you can resolve the problem.
If you heard no sound and did not see an embedded player:
- Check your browser's settings to see if you have a player selected to play mp3 files.
If you heard no sound, but the embedded player was visible:
- Check to see that your computer has speakers and that they are turned on.
- Check that the volume is turned up and not set to mute.
- At Frog Call Look-Up, you need to click on the play button for the sound file to begin playing (and there will be some delay as the file travels to you).
- At the Public Quiz, NAAMP Quiz, and Park/Refuge Quiz webpages the sounds will automatically start to play. Though there is a small delay before the sound starts to reach your computer. Clicking on play may actually result in pausing the sound file’s loading.
If you heard poor quality sound:
- Poor sound can result from low quality speakers; this is likely with laptop computers. Try plugging in external speakers to the laptop or switching to a desktop computer that has external speakers. The quiz is designed to work for users with 56k modems or faster connections. If you are using a slower connection, the files may not function properly.
The quiz is designed to work for the following:
- Operating system: Windows XP (or newer) or Macintosh OS X (or newer)
- Connection speed: 56k modem or faster
- Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (or newer) or Firefox 3 (or newer)
