Primary Responsibilities: Evaluate the fate and effect of contaminants in aquatic ecosystems and develop procedures to identify and study aquatic-contaminant problems. Design and conduct toxicological investigations for the purpose of identifying acute and chronic toxicity of inorganic and organic contaminants resulting from point and non-point sources. Through a combination of laboratory and field assessments, identify environmental conditions that may harm fish and wildlife resources in the Southeast. Conduct controlled bioassays to determine the effects of specific contaminants to aquatic organisms and relate these responses to toxicity observed in laboratory and field evaluations. |
