| | Title | Development of methods to estimate species richness and community-dynamic |
| | parameters from species list data |
| | Project Description | This project will involve further development of methods for the estimation of species richness and |
| | related parameters associated with community dynamics, such as local rates of extinciton, |
| | colonization, and turnover. These methods are based on capture-recapture models developed for |
| | animal population studies and rely on an analogy between populations and communities. The |
| | methods will also be used to test hypotheses about effects of habitat variables such as forest |
| | fragmentation and urbanization on community dynamics. |
