October 27, 2008 USGS Scientist Receives 2008 MEES Colloquium Research Poster Award.

The University of Maryland announced Ms. Diann Prosser as the recipient of the 2008 outstanding student poster award from the Marine-Estuarine-Environmental-Sciences (MEES) Colloquium.  The colloquium, held in mid October at the University of Maryland, unites  graduate students and faculty from across the University System of Maryland to discuss environmental research and education.  The poster, entitled, "Wild Birds and Emerging Diseases: Modeling Avian Influenza Transmission Risk Between Domestic and Wild Birds in China" describes her research being conducted at USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center and University of Maryland on wild birds and avian influenza.
