Land Use Guidelines Working Group Plans

An important goal of this group is to better link the land use planning and the herpetology communities by providing useful information for both. Our initial projects included generating a list of biodiversity conservation and planning literature (see our products webpage). Our current projects include: preparing a document (Nine Rules for Biodiversity-Friendly Residential Development) for municipalities and planners, especially those interested in LEED development; developing a list of guidelines for timing of construction activities to minimize impacts to amphibians and reptiles; and creating a powerpoint presentation about the importance of amphibian and reptile conservation for land use planners in anticipation of presenting at future regional planning organization conferences.
