  Once you reach Patuxent, follow the signs for Gabrielson Laboratory.  There is guest parking in front of the building.  In the lobby, stop by the computer on your right, and sign in to get a visitor's badge.  Then take the elevator to the second floor.  The Library is immediately behind the elevator.
  
  
• Interlibrary Loan

We are a member of OCLC.  To borrow from us through OCLC, enter our symbol, FZT, once in the lender string.  We also accept requests from other libraries via phone, Fax (301 497-5545), or mailed ALA request form.

Staff may initiate interlibrary loan requests by writing to pwrclibrary@usgs.gov.  Provide your publication information via e-mail, phone, or by marking items in a bibliography.  

• Visitor use  

  The Library is open to visitors during normal working hours. Call or e-mail us first so we can determine if staff will be available to assist you on the date you plan to arrive.  It gives us a chance to discuss the type of topics you wish to pursue, and whether our holdings will be helpful.   Materials may be used for reference, but may not be checked out.  Interlibrary loan arrangements must be made to borrow books.  Photocopying is permitted, and there is no charge for the use of the copier.  Visitors are requested to bring their own paper if they anticipate copying more than 50 pages.  Our copier can scan to PDFs. We can arrange to e-mail them to you. Our bibliographic databases and e-journals are also available to visitors.
