Band Manager
Program Update Web Site
This page will allow you to download the update for Band Manager for Windows
95/98/2000/NT 4.0.
The update provided on this page is current as of November 7, 2002 and contains
approximately 868,000 bytes. The following updates/fixes are included with this
version:
- Each time the user exits Band Manager, they will be asked if they want
to do a backup. If they answer yes, they are automatically taken to the
backup utility, and they can then do their own backup. After they exit the
backup screen, the program will exit without returning to the main menu.
- During an import, if duplicate bands are found in the import file, the
user can get a list of the band numbers that are duplicated, and even print
the list.
- In the Band Inventory, when the user is removing bands from the
inventory, when the program asks the user to confirm the remove, they are
shown the string that they have elected to remove.
- A new report was added, which summarizes the number of bandings per day
per location. This report can be filtered, and can be printed or exported.
- Various bug fixes and minor other improvements.
The help files (also updated with the new update) will reflect the above
changes.
If you have never downloaded an update, or have not downloaded an update
prior to March 2000, then we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you download this
update.
Download Instructions
To update your copy of Band Manager, follow the following steps:
- Ensure that Band Manager is not running.
- Click on the words "Download Update" at the end of these
instructions. Once you have done this, a window should open in your web browser
asking if you want to open the file or save it to disk. SAVE IT TO DISK. The
file is called "bmupd.exe", and is the update for Band Manager. You
will need to choose a destination to save the file to on your hard drive. DO NOT
SAVE IT IN THE BAND MANAGER DIRECTORY. Remember where you saved the file and
proceed with the download.
- After the download is complete (it can take a fair bit of time, i.e., up to
a half hour for some users depending on your internet connection), disconnect
from the internet. Now, using Windows Explorer, locate the bmupd.exe file and
run it by Double Clicking on the file name. You will find the file in the
directory where you saved it. ALTERNATIVELY, you can run the file by clicking
the Start button at the bottom left of your screen, and selecting Run. At the
prompt, type in c:\directory\bmupd.exe (where directory is the name of the
directory where you saved the file during download.
- After running the file, a window will open. This is a WinZip window. It
will indicate that it will unzip files to the c:\bandmgr directory. PLEASE NOTE,
if you did NOT install to c:\bandmgr, then you should change the target
directory in this window before proceeding. You may have installed to a
different directory OR a different hard drive. Next, click the Unzip button.
Files will then be unzipped to your hard drive, and a message should appear
saying "24 files unzipped successfully". You can then click Ok, and
then click Close. You are now finished. You can then start Band Manager and
check the About screen (by clicking the About button found on any screen). The
date should now read November 7, 2002, in this window. If it does not, then the
update was not completed correctly.
