Renewing a permit:
Bird Banding Permit Renewal:
Please note that only Master permittees need to re-apply for permit renewal; subpermits are automatically renewed with the Master permit. At renewal time we routinely check the banding activity (as evidenced by the reporting of banding data) that has occurred under the banding permit. The regular submission of banding data is a condition of maintaining a banding permit, as is accounting for all bird bands that have been issued to a Master bander. Master banders must have a bona fide reason to keep their permit active. If any Master permit holders feel that they no longer need to band birds, they may request that their files and permits be placed in an inactive status. These permits may be later reactivated with justification. Renewal of a permit will also be delayed if the bander has any outstanding banding data.
If you need assistance submitting your data please e-mail Karen Jones at: Karen_Jones@usgs.gov
If you need to request revisions to your permit authorizations please submit the request in separate correspondence by emailing bbl_permits@usgs.gov so that your permit renewal is not delayed. For more information about Revised Authorizations click here.
