Northern two-lined salamander larvae are very skinny and streamlined in appearance. The body color is yellowish brown or gray with a mottling pattern on the dorsum and two dark lines running the length of the body. The belly is cream-colored. The eyes look large and dark. The gills are feathery in appearance and are longer than those of the northern dusky and seal salamander larvae.
