How to Prepare Schedules

This fact sheet will help you prepare paper and/or electronic schedules for bands that have not already been scheduled.

1.  Click on Reports from the main menu.

2.  Click on SchedulesSchedule form

 

3. Click Unscheduledreschedule or unscheduled form

4.  Click on Add File.  add file for scheduling form

5.  The Windows "Open File" dialog box will appear, select the appropriate ".dbf" file

7. Click OK.

8. Depending on the status of bands in your inventory, you may see several different screens before you get the the Summary of Bands for Schedule Production, read each screen and take appropriate action.

  1. On the Summary of Bands for Schedule Production

  2. Choose Paper Schedules, Electronic or Both (Will normally choose Both)

  3. Click Do All-No Confirm (make other choice if you want to view schedules)

  4. A Windows "Print Setup" screen will appear, make sure the settings are correct (make sure your printer is turned on) and click OK.

  5. Click Done once a 'T" appears in the DONE? column for each band span.

A Windows "Save As" will pop up.

Name your .txt file (type 8 characters or less, no spaces or special characters allowed, type this information to the right of "Delimited file:") Make sure you delete the * that is in the file name by default.

15. Click Save.

  1. Next the 'Copy to Diskette' box will appear.  
  2. Click Yes and insert diskette into disk drive)

  1. Choose Drive to copy file to (A: or B:)

  2. Click Continue.

20.  Click Close Preview Icon or press esc on keyboard. print preview form

21. Click YES (Print Note for File?)   print note for file prompt

 

22. Send it to BBL along with hard copies and .txt file(diskette file)

23. Click OK on printer select screen.

24. Click  Done.  

25. Until further notice you should send paper schedules and a floppy diskette containing the .txt file created using Band Manager.  Mail to:  Bird Banding Laboratory, USGS, Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, 12100 Beech Forest Rd, Laurel MD 20708-4037.
